The research has confirmed that both suspects didn't tell the truth.

One thing is for sure: Mariska was not fallen!
Het verlies van mijn dochter is niet te bevatten. Alles wat zich daarom heen heeft afgespeeld of nog zal afspelen is nog minder te begrijpen. Het is achteraf dan ook niet zo verwonderlijk dat dit drama zich allemaal in Honduras heeft afgespeeld, één van de armste landen ter wereld, met alle problemen van dien.
In 2010 en 2011 heeft de pers aandacht gegeven aan de zaak. Het enige wat ik kan doen is Mariska te eren en de kleine details proberen te achterhalen. Het mysterie is deels opgelost, maar ....
de gerechtigheid heeft nog niet plaats gevonden!
De zaak is nog lang geen cold case, maar het duurt wel te lang voordat er eindelijk eens gerechtigheid voor Mariska gaat komen. Dat had veel sneller gekund als niet .... En juist dát maakt het zo complex, zo bizar, dat je er haast aan onderdoor gaat! En juist dát gun ik de veroorzakers niet. Zij en wij moeten er verder mee leven. Wij hopen wel dat de autoriteiten nu eens tot actie overgaan Niemand mag zich aan de rechten van een mens onttrekken, zelfs Australië niet!!

Mariska we miss you so much. The loss of my daughter is beyond comprehension. The aftermath is even less understandable. The only thing I can do is to honor her and trying to discover the truth en hoping there will be justice. What really happened with Mariska? These facts are now for sure: Mariska was not fallen and Mariska's first dive-instructor , Daniel Ian Ross, fled of the island Roatan.

A message for her
In France it is a habit that relatives of a deceased person place a plaque with a message on the grave.
In the Netherlands you don t see this normaly. While visiting her grave the 22th august, I put it down.
The stone plaque is shaped like a book. On this book you will see two (peace) doves, an oldfashion sheet of paper, a heart with an oldfashion writers feather.
Besides these wonderful symbolism you can read the French text:

We want to fight for justice for our young girl, who was taken her life without any
reason and without giving her any mercy! Can you feel the pain of so many people for
the lost of this beautiful person ?
Why all the insults and telling lies after her death, only because they do no want to see their own deeds and trying to escape their deserved punishment?
You must be blind to see you never can reach so many injuries (including internal injuries) by a single fall in a bathroom; that is impossible, that story was invented; because it was only Mariska who has fought to save her own life!
Can you imagine that it was Mariska who wanted to have a nice holyday, including possible romance in a normal way and she did not want to have her family (and other families in other countries) the worst nightmare ever!
